PRIVATE ACTS, PUBLIC PLACES
YEAR 1 - BA ARCHITECTURE, LONDON METROPOLITAN UNIVERSITY
The brief for this project was to create both public and private space on a tiny site - a sliver of land along the side of a commercial building, and a small space over a single story part of the same building, on Holloway Road in north London.
I proposed creating an elevated self-service cycle repair area, accessed via a cycle ramp, as the public part of the project. This area incorporated a tool workshop, a coffee stop and a WC.
The private part of the project consisted of a crow's nest style personal studio space attached high up on the existing building.
I spent many hours devising a method to make scaled down bicycles to 'populate' the model, and countless more making them!
